AntwerpXL 2024
Schedule:
Easyfairs has initiated the registration process for the upcoming AntwerpXL (AXL) event, scheduled to be held at the Antwerp Expo in Belgium from October 8th to 10th, 2024. This year's event promises to surpass previous ones, with over 80% of the exhibition space already booked and more than 94% of last year's participants planning to attend again. This top-tier conference and exhibition focuses on the maritime and logistics industries, specifically targeting the breakbulk, project cargo, heavy lift, and Ro-Ro sectors. Based on attendee feedback from last year, the event will feature extended hours and a closing party to provide additional networking opportunities.
In the previous year, AXL drew more than 3,800 professionals from the breakbulk sector across 66 nations. This gathering offers a distinct platform for participants to display cutting-edge technology, tackle industry obstacles, and establish trust-based relationships. Attendees can network, form important connections, and gain insights from industry experts, rendering it an essential event for individuals engaged in the breakbulk, project cargo, and heavy lift industries.
This year's exhibition will feature top companies such as S&P Global, Rebel Group, and Hitachi Energy, who will lead the main stage conference sessions. The discussions will explore crucial industry issues and important topics like decarbonisation, future energy sources, market trends, and strategies to attract new talent. These talks are essential for those aiming to propel advancement and innovation in their organizations.
The 2024 edition will place a greater emphasis on the RoRo market. “The sector is currently grappling with numerous issues such as congestion at ports, fire risks linked to electric vehicles, and difficulties with obtaining permits. AXL offers an ideal platform for industry professionals to unite and seek solutions,” says Margaret Dunn, the portfolio director of AXL.
“We are excited to invite manufacturers of cars, large vehicles, and other types of heavy vehicles to our event. The three-day show will provide ample opportunity for them to address their environmental, geopolitical, and regulatory challenges, as well as to establish connections with RoRo carriers and ports worldwide.”
At the event, a unique reception featuring beverages will be organized to honor the winners of the AXL 40 Under 40 campaign. This celebration will recognize their notable contributions and highlight AXL's dedication to fostering future industry pioneers and leaders. The AXL 40 Under 40 award acknowledges outstanding young professionals who have shown extraordinary promise or accomplished significant achievements, marking them as the upcoming talents in the breakbulk and heavy lift sector.
This year, those attending have the chance to join the 54th Business Run, an exceptional event that merges running, networking, and philanthropy. Runners have the option to select either a 4K or a 9K route through the scenic city of Antwerp, presenting a wonderful occasion to contribute to a good cause while building meaningful relationships.
The logistics manager at ArcelorMittal praised AXL's success in 2023, saying, "We connected with the right individuals at the perfect moments; the event was outstanding, and we are certain to participate again this year." Similarly, the logistics manager from Ferrum NV shared, "We had a fantastic experience at AXL and will surely return this year; it was an excellent opportunity for networking."

The inaugural AXL event took place in 2019 and swiftly established itself as an important fixture in the maritime and logistics industry. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic caused some disruptions, the exhibition not only endured but also expanded in the following years. Held in Antwerp, which boasts one of Europe's largest ports, the event is perfectly situated for a focus on breakbulk and project cargo. AXL is set to return in 2024, providing a platform for the breakbulk community to reunite, highlight cutting-edge technology, address industry challenges, and foster trust-driven relationships.
