In the previous month, Chase introduced a new advertising venture, and now PayPal is doing the same.
PayPal has appointed the ex-chief of advertising from Uber to lead its new PayPal Ads division, which focuses on selling targeted advertisements using customer data.
Let's take a moment to think about the magnitude of PayPal's operations. In just the first quarter, PayPal handled 6.5 billion transactions from a user base of 400 million people. Each transaction represents a distinct piece of data that can be leveraged for targeted advertising.
By default, PayPal users will be enrolled, but they can choose to opt-out.
It will be intriguing to observe the reaction of PayPal’s users once these advertisements are launched.
