Scottie Barnes Agrees to Contract Extension with the Raptors

Scottie Barnes has agreed to a contract extension with the Toronto Raptors. The new agreement spans five years and is worth $270 million, making him the most highly compensated player in the history of the Raptors.
According to ESPN sources, Toronto Raptors' All-Star guard Scottie Barnes plans to agree to a five-year maximum rookie extension potentially valued at $270 million. Barnes, seen as the key player for the franchise, is set to become the highest-paid player in the history of the Raptors.

At 22 years old, Barnes earned the Rookie of the Year title for the 2021-2022 season and has also been selected for an All-Star Game. Throughout his career, he has maintained averages of 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. In the most recent season, his averages improved to 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
The Raptors plan to focus on Barnes as they rebuild following a 25-57 season.
