Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 7

Date:

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 7. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers

Miles Sanders missed week 6 with a shoulder injury. Hubbard took over the lead role in the backfield against the Dolphins. He played well notching 19 carries for 88 yards and one touchdown. Hubbard also had a catch for two yards.

Even before Sanders’s injury, Hubbard was seeing significant snaps in the Panthers’ offense. With his good game he has likely earned even more work. He can be added now and started while Sanders is out. When Sanders returns the situation can be monitored. Hubbard is rostered in 46 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert were out for week 6. Herbert is on the injured reserve with an ankle injury. Johnson missed last week with a concussion, but is in line to return this week. In their absence, D’Onta Foreman had 15 carries for 62 yards.

Over the next few weeks, Johnson should be the lead back in the Bears’ offense. He has 25 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown on the season. Johnson has looked like a solid running back and the rookie can be added now before he really takes off. He is rostered in just 41.8 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Elijah Mitchell, RB, San Francisco 49ers

In the second half of the game against the Browns, Christian McCaffrey left with an oblique injury. There have been limited updates and no timetable for his return. Mitchell and Jordan Mason both filled in for McCaffrey. Mitchell had two carries for -3 yards.

While Mason could be on this list and added too, as he was the more effective running back in week 6, Mitchell has been the starter before and is likely to see more of the work moving forward. If McCaffrey misses time, Mitchell could be started. He is rostered in 26.4 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Justice Hill, RB, Baltimore Ravens

Hill continues to get a decent workload in the Ravens’ backfield. In London for week 6, he had 11 touches for 35 yards against the Titans. He and Gus Edwards have taken over the backfield since the injury to J.K. Dobbins.

While the production hasn’t been great from a fantasy perspective, he is still getting enough work to warrant being picked up. He has three touchdowns this year and is bound to have more in the coming weeks. Hill is rostered in just 32.4 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Michael Mayer, TE, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders drafted Mayer in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. They didn’t utilize his skills the first few weeks of the season, but have started to in the last few weeks. He had two catches for 39 yards in week 5. In week 6, he tallied five catches for 75 yards.

It seems like the Raiders are working Mayer more into the offense. As he gets more familiar with the offense and the NFL, the Raiders can target Mayer more heavily. Rookie tight ends rarely produce a lot, but it is worth taking a flier on Mayer.
