FACEIT launch FPL South America

Date:

FACEIT has announced the creation of FPL South America, adding the continent to the list of regions within the circuit after FPL Europe and FPL North America.

The new league system for the continent will offer a $10,000 monthly prize pool in the upper division, with a further $2,500 per month being awarded to those competing in FPL-C.

NEKIZ will be one of the players looking to take home the lion’s share of the $10,000 monthly prize pool

The matchmaking-style league will be an open-circuit format, with players able to work their way up through the league system, the top two players atop the FPL-C leaderboards by each month’s end securing qualification for the main division. FACEIT also state that the player list will “continually evolve based on several key factors, such as performances in local tournaments, global tournaments, and general feedback from all FPL members.”

Any players from the South American continent will be able to try their hand at qualifying for FPL, though FACEIT said that they “will be keeping a close eye on any issues with language barriers between Portuguese and Spanish speaking players in FPL and FPL Challenger.”

The launching of this new matchmaking system for the continent comes just before the start of IEM Major Rio, set to run from October 31-November 13. The $1,250,000 event is also going to be the first Valve-sponsored tournament ever held in South America and the first to have an audience at every stage of the competition.
