ex-MAD Lions clinch REPUBLEAGUE S3 title

Date:

ex-MAD Lions have secured the REPUBLEAGUE Season 3 title, picking up the $75,000 cheque for first place at the competition after a surprising run that saw the underdogs surpass several bigger names.

Ranked just 46th at the moment after having recently lost Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev to Natus Vincere and adding former Fiend member Hristiyan “REDSTAR” Pironkov, the TMB-led side came into the event as the fifth-lowest ranked out of 16 teams.

Woro2k was REPUBLEAGUE’s highest-rated player at 1.25 in 17 maps

En route to the grand final, they rose to the top after beating Eternal Fire twice, Bad News Eagles, K23, MOUZ NXT, and ECSTATIC, while also outplacing the likes of Imperial, Entropiq, and forZe.

In the title decider, ex-MAD Lions went up against the new fnatic team playing their debut with Ludvig “HEAP” Alonso and toppled the black-and-orange side in large part thanks to an incredible comeback from a 0-12 deficit on the T side of Mirage, led by Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk.

The Ukrainian had a great series overall, also being the leading man in the deciding Ancient victory, averaging a 1.51 rating thanks his amazing effort in the defensive comeback on Overpass and in the closing stages of the deciding map.
