Enjin Blockchain Joins the Crypto Climate Accord

Following the recent debates surrounding around high energy usage from cryptocurrency projects, Enjin has turned its JumpNet blockchain carbon negative after joining the Crypto Climate Accord.

Launched by Energy Web, the Alliance for Innovative Regulation, and RMI, the Accord is a private sector-led initiative to make the cryptocurrency industry 100% renewable.

The Crypto Climate Accord is backed by 20 companies from the blockchain, fintech, and Greentech industries that are inspired by the Paris Climate Agreement established in April to address the “large and growing energy consumption of cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology and its climate impact.”

Doug Miller, Global Markets Lead at Energy Web remarks on Enjin’s effort towards greener practice:

Even before joining the initiative, Enjin’s (ENJ) said that JumpNet “already uses less energy than the average US household and 99.99% less electricity than Ethereum.”

Enjin Achieves Carbon-Negative Status 9 Years Ahead of Schedule

Going carbon neutral now means that Enjin has already achieved its carbon-negative status nine years ahead of schedule as it had planned to do so by 2030 initially.

Remarking that the newer forms of technology should never come at the cost of destroying our environment, Maxim Blagov, Enjin CEO, said:

Carbon neutrality for JumpNet is an important step toward our vision of a sustainable NFT ecosystem for Enjin and our partners.”

The latest move by Enjin marks yet another milestone amid debates surrounding energy-intensive blockchains with activists claiming these projects negatively impact climate change over the globe.
