T1 powerhouse on the lookout for a record fourth title

T1 have won all eight games against DRX across the spring and summer splits of the LCK. Of course, Gen.G marched confidently into the semi-final backed up by that same record, and we all know how that turned out. DRX are red hot at the moment, so that record doesn’t mean much.

T1 are the LoL Worlds favorites and have looked like an ambitious, rejuvenated unit, quite a different version of the team that folded to Gen.G a couple of months ago at the LCK final. They’ve held a 12-2 overall record at Worlds.

If you compare their Worlds performance metrics with their LCK stats, you’ll see that they’ve improved their team-wide KD ratio from 1.19 to 1.66, which is the highest in the tournament. Their early game approach has changed, too, with their rate of drawing first blood dropping noticeably from 47% in the LCK to 30.8% at the Worlds.

Topping the charts

This team has been in a league of their own this tournament, topping the charts across almost every metric. They’ve averaged the most kills per game of any side so far, an incredible 18.2, and their death rate per game is only 10.8 as well, the third lowest in the tournament.

T1 have the highest tower destruction rate of 8.8, and the lowest concession rate too, at 2.8. They aren’t aggressive starters, evidenced by their 30% first blood rate but the fact their kill rate is still so high speaks volumes of their mid and late-game play.

In addition, they’ve averaged a creep score of 31.7 per minute, and dealt 2562 damage to champions per minute – again, the highest among teams by a mile. Their gold collection per minute currently stands at 1993, the best in the tournament, and they have averaged 308 gold differential per minute as well.

All eyes on Faker

The undisputed League of Legends GOAT Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok will appear in his fifth Worlds final, the most by any player in history. As of 2022, his tenure with T1 is now the highest that any player has ever served a single organization.

The celebrated mid laner has broken a slew of records since the start of the tournament:

  • He’s now the only player to complete 100 games at the LoL Worlds 2022.
  • When he slayed Sylas during T1’s group stage game against Cloud9, he took his total kills at Worlds up to 353, breaking the record previously held by Uzi.
  • Faker has averaged 3.5 kills, 2.8 deaths and 6.5 assists per game, taking his KDA ratio up to 3.5.
  • His creep score currently stands at 7.6, and has farmed gold at the rate of 399 gold per minute.

There are big things expected from him heading into this Grand Final, and a win for T1, which looks likely, will cement him at the top with the game’s greatest.

Guma’s having a good tournament too

While we’re on the subject of legends, let’s drop the spotlight for a moment on T1’s bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, whose achievements haven’t received the recognition they’ve deserved in light of the fanfare around Faker:

  • Guma currently averages 6.6 total kills per game (the highest), 1.2 deaths per game (the second lowest), and collected gold at the rate of 514 units per minute which is by far the best.
  • He’s participated in 71.6% of his team’s kills, and contributed 21.6% of their total damage to champions.
  • Guma leads the way with the tournament’s highest creep score as well, a perfect 10, and has dealt 298 damage to champions per minute.

T1 vs DRX Grand Final LoL Worlds Betting Preview

DRX in search of a record-breaking maiden title

DRX have outdone themselves, surpassing expectations at every step of the way. This is the first time in Worlds history that a team that had to qualify through the play-ins has reached the finals, and if they win it, that’s an even more impressive record broken. They have a chance at their first-ever Worlds title.

The LCK fourth seeds have stood up and made a statement. Their performance has successfully put Korea back on top as the world’s best, seeing that during their campaign, they were able to affect victories against LPL favorites Top Esports, Royal Never Give Up, and Edward Gaming. DRX have defied the LoL Worlds betting odds at every turn, charging ahead in games where they were never really given a chance.

They knocked last year’s champions EDG out of the quarterfinal 3-2, then thundered past title favorites Gen.G 3-1 in the semis. Despite being considered the underdogs in both these games, their cohesiveness and refusal to give up in tough situations has served them well.

How their stats look

  • DRX’s KDA ratio stands at 1.43, only second to T1’s 1.66 by managing 13.1 kills per game, and 9.1 deaths per game on average.
  • They’ve collected 1860 gold per minute with a 171 gold differential per minute.
  • Their tower kill rate is high as well at 7.8, once again just behind T1, and have lost 4.3 per game.
  • DRX has also shown a strong tendency to go after neutral objectives, collecting 2.56 dragons, 1.25 heralds, and 1 Baron Nashor per game.
  • The team’s average creep score is 33.2, tied for the highest with Gen.G, and have also dealt 2114 damage to champions per minute.

Once again, DRX find themselves the underdogs heading into this game, but that speaks more to the immutable force that is T1, rather than DRX’s ability. And they’ve already proved that this title means nothing to them.

The Zeka Show

This is Zeka’s world, and we’re all just living in it. There’s little we can say about Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo that hasn’t already been covered by his teammates, experts, media, and fans alike… but let’s have a look at his stats.

The red-hot mid laner brought DRX charging into the tournament after inflicting carnage at the playing.

  • Just to recap, he averaged 7.4 kills, 0.8 deaths and 4.8 assists per game, a KDA of 15.3, a creep score of 10.8 per minute.
  • This was in addition to farming gold at the rate of 525 per minute. Cut to the main event, and his kill rate stands at 4.3, death rate at 1.4, and his KDA at 6.
  • His creep score is now 9.5, and he collects an average of 442 gold dealing 467 damage per minute.

These are still superior stats considering the level of League of Legends Worlds teams DRX encountered at the play-ins were a far cry from the world-class ones at the main event. He has shown up and delivered for his team throughout and was instrumental in getting them this far.

Zeka’s triple kill against Gen.G in the third game of the semi-final was one of the highlights of his tournament, where he managed to shut down Ruler, Peanut and Chovy.

Whoever wins, it’s sure to be an epic battle. Check our list of recommended best bookmakers for LoL Worlds. This will ensure that you get the best odds on your bets and provide you with a range of betting options for each match.
