Want to know what’s new in the zombie-infested West? Dead Rails has hit Roblox like… well… a train. Seems like everyone’s playing. The frequent content updates help. There’s often something new and exciting to try. So that’s why we’re putting together a Dead Rails update guide. Here we’ll put details of the latest content changes, and renew it when a new update drops.

Dead Rails Update Guide
We split our update guides into three main sections. The first section will cover major content changes. The second will discuss balance changes. The third will go over bug fixes and general QoL improvements.
Note: According to the official Discord, updates for Dead Rails are likely to switch to a bi-weekly schedule in order to give more substantive updates, with fewer bugs on launch. We’ll be tweaking our update guide schedule to reflect this, but we’ll keep an eye out to ensure this is the case, first.
Weapon Rework Update
Things added in the November 1st Weapon Rework update.
New Game Mode
Bite-Sized is a mode designed to give a shorter run distance, with only 40km to the end. It still contains all the biomes and special structures. Completing the run nets 5 Bonds. Great if you don’t really have time to go a full run.
Weapon Reworks
Major reworks for the following weapons:
- Bolt Action Rifle
- Elephant Rifle
- Navy Revolver
- Revolver
- Sawed Off Shotgun
- Shotgun
You can now also use the iron sights on the weapons listed above, giving you more accurate shooting ability.
More guns are set to be reworked in the very near future, so stay tuned if your favorite hasn’t made the cut just yet.
Halloween Update
Halloween is here!
New Game Mode – Edison’s Revenge
This alternate timeline is getting wilder, as Thomas Edison is the new president of the US, and he has some major beef with Nikola Tesla. Travel through four Halloween biomes to reach Tesla and take part in the clash of the titans.
New Train
Dracula’s Train – This train will give a trickle of health to those aboard when enemies are killed by, or near the train.
New Classes
- Ghost – An incorporeal class that is strong against projectiles. A bullet has a 90% chance to miss. Sadly they’re not so good at avoiding melee, and take extra damage.
- Frankenstein’s Monster – This class comes with an extra shot at a run. One a run, if you go down, lightning will strike and bring you back from the dead. It’s ALIVE!

Mini Update

This came with an announcement that class upgrades were underway, with the game set to receive a large content update very soon, with the ability to level classes. We may also see a return to more regular content updates for the game very soon. So stay tuned!

- The Easter Event is here!
- Find helpful Easter Eggs around the map that hatch into minions that will fight for you.
- Find six golden eggs at special locations to complete the Easter Challenge.
- Defeat the Easter Bunny boss to unlock a new class. The Bunny replaces Nikola Tesla, and is able to fling eggs that hatch into enemies.
- New Class: The Eggslinger
- Drops eggs that hatch into friendly minions.
- Secret Easter Eggs
- There are two special Easter Eggs hidden around the map, with clues on how to find them. Try and track them down if you’re feeling extra smart.

New For April 1st
This event kicked off April 1.
- New Game Modes
- Fools Gold. Gold nuggets are all over the place… but are they really what they seem? Fools Gold sees you redeeming gold nuggets with random values and effects in search of a special key to open a building at the end of the run. What excitement awaits inside?
- Horsing Around. You are one of the many poor unfortunate horses abandoned by the humans escaping to Mexico. It’s time to take your fate into your own hands… or uh… hooves. Take up weapons and forge your own path to the border, alone or with a herd of your horse brethren.
- New Class
- Horse. BE the horse as you get the boosted speed of an equine avenger. Can you still ride horses AS a horse? You bet. Complete the Horsing Around game mode to unlock this class for normal play.
Balance Changes
Buffs, nerfs, reworks to usable items or enemies, all of them go in this section.
- Blood liquid heals Vampire.
- Zombie Blood liquid heals Zombie.
Fixes
Here are some important fixes included in the update.
- The Flying Horse Big got fixed. (Nooooo!)
