Hannaford has replaced James Walker in the role, who will relocate to the US to become deputy chief executive of the Credit Suisse business in the region.

Hannaford will also join the Swiss multinational’s executive board and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland, reporting directly to chief executive Thomas Gottstein.

Hannaford spent almost 25 years at Goldman Sachs, starting out by developing and designing statistical research products in London, eventually becoming one of its most senior tech executives.

Subsequent roles at the global investment bank included heading up its global compliance and legal technology divisions, and its enterprise platforms. Both roles were held in London and New York. Hannaford also became global head of corporate and operations technology at the company.

Hannaford’s last role before joining Credit Suisse saw her heading up Goldman Sachs’ EMEA technology and acting as global head of quality assurance engineering.

Between 1994 and 1997, Hannaford was executive director of global trading volume systems at NatWest Markets, the investment banking arm of NatWest.

Prior to that, she was vice president of equities analytics at UBS Investment Bank for two years, based in London.
