Autoblog marks its 20th anniversary of dedicated car industry coverage – Autoblog

DETROIT — Reaching the two-decade mark is undeniably significant. Autoblog made its debut in June 2004, during a time when both the world and the automotive industry were quite different. Jump ahead to June 2024, and we now have fresh topics to cover, new vehicles to test, and innovative methods to deliver all the car-related information you desire.

We consider it both an honor and a constant challenge to provide comprehensive and innovative car news, reviews, and purchasing guidance. Although the word "blog" might sound outdated, it is more pertinent today than ever. Initially, we operated as a blog, publishing fresh content several times an hour. Today, we've evolved into a complete automotive website, yet the core purpose of a blog—to continually evolve—remains central to our mission.

We’re constantly searching for the upcoming major trend. As we find ourselves in June, reflecting once more, it seems that artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and self-driving cars are the trends on the horizon. We anticipated two out of these three back in 2019 during our 15-year celebration, and in hindsight, the rise of AI was bound to happen.

Since then, numerous unforeseen events have occurred: the revival of the contemporary labor movement, a worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips, and a pandemic that disrupted the automotive sector. Throughout these challenges, we have endeavored to adjust and keep Autoblog's audience updated.

Since our inception on June 1, 2004, we've experienced a fascinating journey. Over the years, we've produced close to 158,000 articles, over 43,000 photo galleries, and 836 podcasts. Our team has seen five different editors-in-chief and more than 170 writers and producers come and go. Currently, Autoblog is a part of Yahoo Inc., but in the past, we've been under the ownership of Verizon, Oath, AOL, and Weblogs.
