Cam Akers Traded to Minnesota Vikings

Los Angeles did not have to shop around their former running back for long, as just a few days after they announced they were shopping him, they had a trade partner. Cam Akers is being sent to the Minnesota Vikings, and the two teams are swapping 2026 draft picks as a part of the deal.

The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Akers was formerly the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s played with the Rams for his entire career, even winning the Super Bowl with the team, but has been in and out of that RB1 spot for the past two seasons.

Reportedly, Akers requested a trade away from the Rams in Week 5 of the NFL season. After that report came out, he did not play for three straight weeks. Akers then denied having requested a trade and stayed with the team through Week 2 of this season. He has rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 attempts in one game appearance this year.
