Avonte Maddox Likely Tore Pec Muscle in Week 2

The Philadelphia Eagles may have lost one of their better defenders during Thursday Night Football. In the first game of Week 2, Avonte Maddox is feared to have torn his pectoral muscle. One MRI confirmed the injury, but he is expected to seek a second opinion before the Eagles deem him out for the season.

Jordan Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported the news on Friday via Twitter.

Maddox, primarily a slot cornerback, was originally a fourth round (125th overall) pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s only ever played for the Eagles during his NFL career, playing in 13 games his rookie season (nine starts).

In November of 2022, he was placed on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury. Maddox was then activated on December 10, playing in the Super Bowl and grabbing seven tackles in that game. He had two interceptions during his nine 2022 games.
