Atlanta Braves and Chris Sale Agree to Contract Extension

Date:

The Atlanta Braves and pitcher Chris Sale have agreed on a contract extension. Sale will be under contract for the next two seasons and then there will be a club option in 2026. The first two years are worth $38 million total, while the option year is worth $18 million. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news.

Atlanta traded the Boston Red Sox for Sale earlier this offseason. Last season, he had a 4.3 ERA with a 6-5 record. In his 13-year career, Sale has a 3.10 ERA with a 120-80 record.

The Braves will hope that the 35-year-old left-hander can regain his form and help them push for a World Series after losing in the NLDS last season.
