The IQT Nordics conference, set to take place in late June 2024, will feature Asger Jensen, who heads the quantum activities at NKT Photonics, focusing on developing laser-based systems for the burgeoning quantum computing, metrology, and sensing markets. Jensen’s extensive background in nanotechnology and integrated nonlinear optics, combined with his commercial and technical experience at NKT Photonics, positions him as a key speaker, especially for attendees interested in the pivotal role of laser technologies in quantum applications.

Jensen’s journey in the field began with a Master’s in nanotechnology from Aalborg University, followed by a Ph.D. in integrated nonlinear optics from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This academic foundation provided him with a deep understanding of the physical principles underlying modern photonics and laser systems, critical for advancements in quantum technology.

Since joining NKT Photonics in 2016, Jensen has taken on various commercial and technical roles before leading the company’s quantum activities. His work involves developing critical laser systems for quantum computer operation, enhancing metrology techniques, and advancing sensing technologies. These areas are essential for the practical implementation and commercialization of quantum technologies.

In addition to his role at NKT Photonics, Jensen serves as the chairman of the Danish Optical Society, advocating for the interests of the Danish optics and photonics community. This position highlights his commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the photonics sector in Denmark and internationally.

At the IQT Nordics conference, Asger Jensen is expected to share insights from his work at NKT Photonics into developing and applying laser-based systems in the quantum technology sector. His presentation will likely cover the latest advancements in photonics for quantum computing, the challenges and opportunities in quantum metrology and sensing, and the broader implications of these technologies for the future of quantum applications.
