AE Industrial Partners brings in veteran fundraiser Short in wake of Fund III launch

Aerospace, defence and government services-focused buyout house AE Industrial Partners has brought in asset management veteran Charles Short as head of capital formation.

The firm filed to raise up to $1.75bn for its third fund in April this year. AEI tripled its capital under management in 2018 by hauling in $1.36bn for its oversubscribed second fund.

Short was most recently managing director for business development and investor relations for Marathon Asset Management, focusing on the firm’s fundraising and investor relations efforts in North America.

Prior to that he served as managing director of capital markets for RBC, and was previously managing director at Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank.

AEI managing partner Mike Greene said, “The depth and breadth of Charlie’s expertise in marketing investment products makes him the perfect choice to lead capital formation at AEI.

“With his long history and strong relationships in the financial industry, Charlie will be a huge asset in all aspects of our fundraising, and we’re excited to welcome him to the AEI team.”

AEI focuses on aerospace, defense and government services, space, power and utility services, and specialty industrial markets.

Recent deals from the firm include an equity and debt investment in Fire Team Solutions, a provider of mission-critical tech services to the US intelligence community.
